Activities

Canoeing and Paddleboarding

These are two of the most popular, and pleasurable, pastimes for our guests. You can pack a picnic lunch and canoe your way through tall timber, lay back and marvel at the myriad of winged wildlife and predatory birds high in the sky. We also have paddleboards for you to have a go on. They are very easy and take just minutes to get used to. Drift off into the holiday of a lifetime.

Hiking and Biking

Whether you're walking or on wheels, you're about to discover an almost inexhaustible number of trails and tracks, from novice level through to experienced. The very best bits of the famous Bibbleman Track surround Nornalup and for the mountain bikers, the Munda Biddi awaits.

Surfing and Swimming

The river you are staying on makes for a beautiful swimming pool. The water is so refreshing on a hot summer's day (and freezing cold in winter!) and kids just love it. Nearby Denmark and Walpole have a heap of local surf and swimming beaches, and for surfers with four-wheel drives, there are umpteen hidden spots with great waves just waiting to be ridden.

Boating and Fishing

You are in a fisho's heaven. If you have a boat, launch just metres from the chalets. Turn right and head downriver in search of big black bream. If you're just a passenger and don't like bait on your hands, just soak in some of the incredible tall timber scenery on earth. Back at the ramp, head left and explore the Walpole and Nornalup Inlets, teeming with King George and Yellowfin Whiting, Herring, Flathead and Blue Swimmer crabs. Yum!

    Customer Reviews

In the Walpole-Nornalup National Park to see the amazing tingle trees, we had a great overnight stay here. A very comfortable, well-equipped chalet with a wonderful veranda facing the river: equally beautiful in the evening sunshine and the morning showers! (Wish we had had time for a canoe expedition.) The helpful owners lent us an excellent guide book to the wonderful spring wild flowers. Recommended also for bird-watching. The chalets are named after birds; we stayed in Fairy Wren (best views) and we saw two of them. A lovely unexpected bonus!

We stayed on the blue wren cabin, which had a fantastic view across the lawn and down to the Frankland river. There were lots of birds to watch on the lawn. The cabin was warm, well appointed, and very quiet. The staff were really friendly and gave us lots of good advice for local attractions.

We stayed in the Sacred Ibis Chalet. The chalet was a good size and really clean. We were all working nearby so it was a quick overnighter but we will back for a longer stay next time. The river nearby is gorgeous. We could run our dogs in the park next door without bothering anyone. Dinner at the Nornabar next door was really handy.

Nice, clean room. Excellent shower and we were on the Auswalk tour so had food prepared for us and left in our fridge which was all fantastic. Lots of little snacks and surprises in there too!

Nice peaceful spot near the river, also the option to hire stand-up paddle boards to explore the river. Good location to use as a base to explore Walpole, Pemberton or Denmark. Day trip to Albany would be possible as well. Was surprised at all the local attractions nearby. The caretakers were a friendly couple and were always happy to help and provide suggestions on destinations or share a bit of local knowledge. Already planning a trip back here next year.

Our stay at the chalets was great. The staff were exceptionally helpful and a very nice couple. The premises were very clean and well fitted out. The grounds were well maintained. There were large areas of lawn and many native plants growing in the garden beds. There are many different birds there including wrens, parrots, finches, Kookaburras and many more. I had the privilege of giving them bird seed, places in small bowls hanging from the veranda roof. The chalets are very close to the river and approximately 10 Ks from the tree top walk and the valley of the giants. In all, a wonderful place to stay.

Such a quiet and pretty location on the Frankland River. Wonderful for just its peacefulness and also a more “active” holiday with lots of walks, canoeing and fishing right out the front. And a short drive to a heap more things. The chalets are comfortable and the hosts are friendly & helpful.
